A little time shall we...

Last week finally ended the renovation of my home! Hooray! Of course there are still many small projects and updates I plan to do but the bulk is done. SO, I was sitting there thinking Saturday, while the gutters (the last job) were being hung, 'exactly how many DAYS has this reno taken?' Well here it is, along with a more in-depth breakdown of time:

From and including: Friday, February 25, 2011
To, but not including : Saturday, May 25, 2013

It is 820 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date;
Or 2 years, 3 months excluding the end date!

But wait: 820 days can be converted to one of these units:
  • 70,848,000 seconds
  • 1,180,800 minutes
  • 19,680 hours
  • 117 weeks (rounded down)
So there! From now on I may refer to my house and the reno as 820 days. :)
(Please note that the renovation wasn't 820 consecutive days. There were many slow months while I saved and planned).

Have a great weekend.

DERBY Nation and the END of a Renovation

If you don't already know it's Derby in Louisville. The weather is beautiful (though it could rain during the races) but for now we will take it! With all of the fun things to do during this time of year I have been working on the last stage of my house. The siding will go up any day now, or in 2 weeks (after the contractors vacay). None the less it has me super pumped. As if the inside wasn't enough fun (humor) the outside has posed many steps and stress. First, one month ago I had the electrical work done, this job consisted of the following: new service, meter, panel up grade, dryer hook up, dishwasher hook up, fixing several open junctions...). Then came the new front door 2 weeks ago and the vinyl contractor followed close... He suggested moving my exterior lights, which were in the soffits above the front and back doors. SO this past weekend we pulled the vinyl soffits down (along with other trim and shutters) and moved the wiring down and out through the wall/facing of the house (front and back). Now I just have some wires hanging out waiting for the siding to go up and BAM, it'll be done. Though I am beyond excited, I am also having anxiety, or maybe it's just a little patience I'm lacking. Stay tuned ya'll for here is the first picture, the day I bought my house!!!

Pictures are near...

At this point I know I am basically writing to myself but it keeps me that much more motivated. And honeslty I haven't shared this blog with anyone so should anyone out there view this, thank you and come back anytime. :)
To the point, I have been holding off on taking updated pictures of my house until I bought a new camera, which I finally got this past weekend. I had the same Canon for 5 years and it just didn't do my rooms justice, or anything for that matter. SO, as soon as the decorations from Christmas come down I will begin the before, progress and the now (after) showcase. Probably throw in some other pictures too.

Hello December!

Wow, what a weekend! As you may know, Friday 11/30 was my 30th birthday. Yep, my 'Golden Birthday'. My family (mom, dad, siblings, nephews and boyfriend) went to a cuban restaurant, ate way too much then gathered at my house to include Denali (my Mastiff) in the celebration. After getting settled in we planned on diving in to the delicious pumpkin roll (my birthday cake) but were too full, so we just sat around, talked, laughed and I made a craft with the boys. Saturday morning Matt and I packed up and went (a bit) up north to a little town called Brown County where we shopped, enjoyed a tasting at a winery and kicked back in a secluded cabin (which had a hot tub and fireplace) until noon on Sunday. So Cozy! The only thing that could have made it better would have been some snow. ;)

Holidays and the 'big' 3-0

With holidays comes the reality that another year is coming to a close, with that there are many emotions, and for me they are all over the place. I am very pleased with the past year and all I accomplished, and I am grateful everyday for good health for me and everyone in my life, for having a job and a home to rest in every night. Of course, as noted in the title, the ‘big’ 3-0 is this Friday and that is what lead me to the feelings above... I have been thinking alot this week about where I’m at in my life. There is so much gratitude, anxiety and eagerness all in one though… However I am not going to cry that I’m 30, because I’m ready for what God has in store.

Cheers,
Amanda

Time to play catch up

My how time flies! When I started my blog I was knee deep in the reno and let this blog come to a hault. To sum it up a bit, I bought the house early 2011, been busy ever since, and though it's not done (still need to install baseboards and tackle some major work, electrical and siding) we moved in, in August 2011. Stick around for all of the pictures and other projects...
